twentynine.io AML Policy

Last updated: 17 October 2026

This Anti-Money Laundering, Counter-Terrorist Financing and Sanctions Policy explains the rules against financial misuse of twentynine.io. It applies to accounts, payments and related use of the website. Contact us at [email protected].

1 Bitcoin only

We currently accept Bitcoin (BTC) only. We may add support for other cryptocurrencies in the future. Any additional coin and its supported network will be announced and enabled in the Wallet before it can be used. Do not send unsupported assets to a Bitcoin deposit address.

This Policy applies alongside our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. Support for an additional asset may require changes to payment rules and this Policy, which will be communicated before the relevant service becomes available.

2 No KYC

We do not conduct Know Your Customer identity verification, and we will never ask you to complete KYC or submit KYC documents. We do not ask for passports, national identity cards, driving licences, identity selfies or proof-of-address documents. Do not send these documents to us.

Passwords, authenticators and recovery controls protect access to an account. They do not establish your legal identity. No KYC does not mean that Bitcoin transactions are anonymous or that unlawful use of the service is permitted.

This policy cannot override applicable law. If a legally required verification or other obligation cannot be fulfilled under our no-KYC policy, we must restrict or discontinue the affected service. Existing funds must be handled as the law requires; they do not automatically become our property.

3 Prohibited activity

You must use your account for your own lawful purposes. You must not:

  • deposit stolen funds, criminal proceeds or funds connected to fraud;
  • use the service for money laundering, terrorist financing, proliferation financing or sanctions evasion;
  • conceal or move money for an undisclosed third party;
  • impersonate another person, sell account access or deliberately provide false transaction information;
  • create linked accounts or split transfers to evade a lawful restriction; or
  • attempt a transaction prohibited by sanctions or another legal restriction that applies to it.

Do not use the service as a means to disguise the source, ownership or destination of funds.

4 Transaction concerns

We may examine relevant account activity, payment history, public Bitcoin records and reports of misuse when a concern arises. We may ask for a transaction reference or a plain-language explanation. We will not turn that request into KYC, require identity or financial-document uploads, or ask you to email passwords, authenticator codes, recovery codes, private keys or seed phrases.

A concerning transaction pattern or an allegation is not proof of wrongdoing. Any assessment must consider the available facts and possible errors. Using a self-custodied wallet, making an unusual transaction or being politically exposed does not by itself establish unlawful activity.

Our no-KYC policy limits the identity information available to us. Bitcoin confirmation and payment checks do not identify customers or certify the lawful source of funds. This Policy does not promise that every transaction is screened or that all unlawful activity can be detected.

5 Restrictions and customer funds

We may restrict access or a transaction where reasonably necessary to address a specific concern, protect accounts or comply with a binding legal requirement. A restriction must have a valid basis, remain proportionate and be reviewed while unresolved. We will explain it and provide a route to request review where disclosure is lawful.

We do not hold withdrawals merely to demand KYC documents. A lack of available wallet funds is a liquidity issue and must not be presented as an AML investigation. Raising a concern does not authorize an administrative forfeiture or allow us to treat a customer's balance as revenue.

Where a relationship is ended, any lawful release or return of funds must follow a secure process and applicable restrictions. We cannot promise to return funds where a binding freeze or other legal prohibition prevents the transfer. Ending an account does not itself cancel the customer's lawful claim to its balance.

6 Bitcoin deposits and withdrawals

Ordinary Bitcoin deposits are credited after one confirmation, once recorded by our system. Bitcoin used to fund withdrawals requires at least three confirmations, and outgoing withdrawals complete settlement after three confirmations.

Most withdrawals may be processed automatically. Some withdrawals may take longer or require manual review and approval before they are sent. A request may remain pending while a necessary manual review is completed. Manual approval does not involve requesting KYC documents. Automatic processing and immediate payment are not guaranteed.

Reviews must be proportionate and follow the customer protections in this Policy. The full payment terms, including fee reservations and other causes of delay, are set out in our Terms and Conditions.

Network confirmation establishes transaction progress; it is not a substitute for any obligation imposed by law. A technical or legal restriction may prevent processing even when a transaction has confirmations.

7 Sanctions and required transfer information

You must not use the service for a transaction prohibited by sanctions that apply to the transaction or our service. A suspected association or similarity must not automatically be treated as a confirmed match. Depending on the applicable requirement, we may have to reject a transfer, restrict access, preserve funds or provide information to a competent authority. Returning funds can itself be prohibited in some circumstances.

Some transfers are subject to requirements concerning sender and recipient information, sometimes called the Travel Rule. There is no universal exemption merely because a transfer uses Bitcoin or is small. Where a required duty cannot be fulfilled under our no-KYC policy, the affected service or transfer cannot proceed in breach of that duty. Existing funds remain subject to lawful handling.

Any legally required exchange of information must use an appropriate recipient and secure channel. Personal information must not be placed on the public Bitcoin blockchain for this purpose.

8 Authority requests and confidentiality

We may preserve or disclose information we actually hold where a valid legal requirement applies, including a required report of suspicious activity. Requests must be assessed for authenticity, scope and legal basis. Disclosure must be limited to what is required or otherwise lawfully justified.

We may be unable to disclose details of a report, restriction or investigation where the law prohibits disclosure. That limitation does not permit us to conceal an ordinary processing delay behind an unsupported claim of legal confidentiality.

A no-KYC policy does not prevent lawful disclosure of account or transaction records that we hold. Information about reports and investigations must be limited to people with an authorized need to know.

9 Records and privacy

We retain relevant account and transaction records as explained in our Privacy Policy. Records needed for a legal obligation, unresolved dispute or lawful preservation order may have to remain after account closure. Retention must not continue without a justified purpose or beyond what applicable law permits.

We do not collect KYC documents under this Policy. Public Bitcoin transaction records are outside our control and cannot be erased by closing an account or requesting deletion.

10 Contact and changes

Report a transaction concern or request review of a restriction at [email protected]. Include your username, a description of the issue and a relevant transaction reference where available. Do not include identity documents or account secrets. A factual error or mistaken association should be corrected through review, subject to any binding legal restriction.

We may update this Policy when supported services or applicable requirements change. Material changes will be communicated as required, and the published Policy will show its latest update date. A change in law must be addressed through a lawful change to the affected service, rather than ignored because we do not offer KYC.
